Hey Friends,
Miranda here from the newly titled Mrs.Platt’s Media (formerly known as Platt’s Media). Oh sorry, just practicing how I’m going to start writing my inquiry form emails..
So new name, huh?
You’re probably thinking:
Why change so soon?
Didn’t you just start?
It really isn’t that big of a change, chill out.
All of which are valid so story time:
When I went to make this lovely, if I do say so myself, website (don’t we LOVE her) the domain was already taken for Platt’s Media. I was P A N I C K E D. Although the person has not done anything with the domain, I still did not want to be a bother and politely knock on their DMs to beg for the rights. Ok, I really wanted to get their address, bang on the DMs, fall to my knees, cry, beg, scream, etc. til I got the rights, but we have morals right? Plus, that seemed to be the dramatic route.
So my sweet husband, who I asked MONTHS ago to help with a name, just piped up from the back of the room (the one I was stressfully screaming across) and suggested a rebrand. A “simple” name change. I wanted to go FERAAALLLLL on him, but I decided to practice my death stare instead. 😒 Then he said it, “You could try Mrs.Platt’s Media”. Again, I wanted to start screaming, ok, maybe I was internally, but I remained calm and said “I don’t think so“.
And then I felt it. Those little butterflies, or maybe death months who knows, inside when you hear your name as a teacher. It’s kinda like that feeling you get when a child’s face lights up when they see you, mixed with hearing your name 3,672 times after finally releasing your students to do a group project, when you spent 45 mins going over the details perfectly and answering all of ZERO questions they asked (I realize these seem like two different feelings, but if you have ever been a teacher you’d get it).
You see, I missed hearing THAT, “Mrs. Platt.”
“Mrs. Platt, what’s the formula for slope?”
“How was your day, Mrs. Platt?”
“Mrs. Platt, can we do something fun today?”
“Mrs. Platt, Kiley ate her glue stick again (true story, promise)!”
Ok, you get the picture. And truth be told, Platt’s Media did not feel like mine. I felt like I was ripping off my Husband’s name. I wasn’t a born and raised Platt. Why was I naming my entire business baby that?! Ok, now that I called it a baby it kinda makes sense, but still. FRAUDDDD!
When he said Mrs.Platt’s Media, it felt like MINE.
It felt like that name above my sweet classroom door.
It felt like I was finally back to that warm feeling I felt when I was happy teaching.
So the decision was easy, and the domain was available! 😉
I hear you, HATER
BuT mIrAnDa, YoU aReN’t A tEaChEr AnYmOrE…..Okay Margaret 🙄 (that’s my imposter’s name, more on her later, maybe). Maybe I am not in a classroom anymore, but my mission for this business has always been to help teachers. Originally, it was to help them save time with their photos and videos and to help them get eyes on their resources. Now, I find myself doing SO much more than that. I help my clients with listing what standards are covered, how to advocate for their products, how to increase those conversion rates, and if its PreAlgebra, Pre-Algebra, or just 8th Grade Math (but seriously which is it?)
And that is my mission for starting this blog
Do I run a TPT store, no, but I was a rabid TPT scroller (definitely more on that later), I have friends who are successful sellers, and I have tons of insight for the biz.
Now stick around and maybe learn a thing or two; if you REALLY want me around, check out this site. Idk if you noticed the little sticky thing at the top, but it is ABSOLUTELY worth it!
So WELCOME to the new and beautiful- Mrs.Platt’s Media!!! 👏🏻👏🏻
Stay Bright, Stay Sharp,
-Mrs. Platt
…ok that feels TOOOO formal…
